How Many Carats Should an Engagement Ring Be?

You’re one to want to make everything in that ring perfect, and who can blame you!? ;) Everybody wants something good for themselves! How many carats should an engagement ring be, you ask?

Socially:

Engagement ring carats are often used as a status symbol. Do you want the ring to make a statement? Then you’ll want to aim at 5 carats and above for an engagement ring that will turn heads and be the talk of the town! ;)

Financially:

Are you looking to get the best bang for your buck? Let’s be honest! Popular carat sizes like 0.5”, 0.75”, 1” and 1.5” etc have more demand which attracts a higher price. You’ll want to aim for carats just below those and get the most value for your money! ;)

Wearer’s Preference:

At the end of the day, no matter what’s trending in the market, you’ll want to consider your preference as the consumer. Does the wearer prefer smaller rings that scream elegance or larger statement rings? You’ll likely be happier with a ring that fits your style as compared to one that the society wants. 

Wearer’s Lifestyle and Frequency of Wear:

Is the wearer active with a job that requires them to work with their hands a lot? They’re better off with a smaller carat engagement ring and a low profile setting. The frequency of wear is something to consider as well. Statement rings with bigger carats are more suited for occasional wear. On the other hand, smaller carats can be worn every other day!
