Can I Change My Earring after 1-7 Days?

No, one day is not enough for your newly made ear piercing to heal.

It's a very common question, however important for anyone whom newly pierced their ears.

Can I Change My Earring after a couple Days?

Can I Change My Earring after 1-7 Days?

  • No, you can't change your earrings for the first 6-8 weeks.
If you wanna change it, your ears might get infected.

  • At this time, the wound is still fresh. Trying to put the earring back in the hole may make your ear bleed.

  • Changing with another pair of earrings that aren’t the hypoallergenic ones from the piercer is a huge no.

  • This will introduce bacteria to the newly made hole. You should keep it clean with rubbing alcohol.

  • I just got my second earlobe piercing done about 2-3 days ago. The earring back was bothering me because it was too tight. I went to loosen them up but they fell out and I replaced the metal backs with the clear rubber ones. My earrings also came out but I cleaned them and my holes and put them back in right away. Is changing the backs of the earrings a bad thing, even though it was bothering me having them in?

  • Dear Charley, falling earring out is common. First of all make sure you clean it ASAP with rubbing alcohol.
Secondly I can’t advise you about swelling, you should visit a professional or a doctor.
Thirdly, maybe you can ask if your friends or someone has extra Rubber Earring Backs by chance.
I’d suggest you to not touch it and keep it clean in the meantime.
Visiting the doctor keeps any infection risks away.

  • I just got my second and third ear rings done two days ago, however, they felt to tight against my earlobes so I tried to loosen them but the back completely popped off the right third one and it fell out due to the suddenness of it. I got the ear ring back in but the back wont fit due to swelling, would it be better to switch to ones that fit once they’re clean or should I try to see if the ear ring will stay in without the back long enough for the swelling to go down?

  • Dear Wilson, If you wanna put another earrings you can, but I’d recommend you let a professional do that. I have seen some people do it themselves successfully and some others ended up with some blood. It’s important to keep everything clean either way. You should also keep her ears clean using rubbing alcohol a few times a day to prevent infection.

  • My new step daughter just got her ears pierced and lost one of the earrings. Her sisters made sure another one was put in, but she can’t turn it. Can we get her another pair of hypo alleg. earrings for her to leave in for the 6-8 weeks? Or should we still just leave it alone?
