How Long Does It Take for an Earring Hole to Close Up?
The earring holes won't close in a few hours.
But, what is the time frame in which you can go earring-free without having the holes closed?
The answer mostly depends on how old the earring hole really is.
The time is different for a few weeks and a few years.
It takes 24 hrs for earring hole to close up if pierced 50 days ago or sooner.
It takes around 3 weeks to close up after 60 days from piercing date.
Note that if your ears develop skin in the hole, they may never close up.
Here's what you need to keep in mind:
Do you have your earring hole for no longer than six months?
I advise you not to remove your earring for longer than one day.
It will take somewhere between one and two days for the hole to close.
Do you have earring holes older than 3 years?
This means that you are safe.
At this time, the healing process is so slow.
You can go earring-free for an extended period of time.
For closing up your earholes you can wait until it naturally closes up. But if it didn't you can go with a few methods like acid treatment and surgery.
I'm gonna attach a few videos that you may find interesting.
In the first one Mama Sage shares her experience and the process.
The second one shows how the surgery is done with before and after results
I assume you're not sensitive to see a surgery.
The third one is for the stretched earlobes. Very stretched.
If you never want to have stretched earholes again, then only wear lightweight earrings. There's so many different types of them that are even cuter than the big ones.
The big ones are impressive but they may have high costs. I'd suggest that only wear big and heavy earrings is the special occasions. Wear lighter earrings during the day.
Now you know how long does it take for an earring hole to close up.

I got both my ears pierced 2 days ago one of them cane out, do you know how long its going to take for it to close? I am asking because the shop i got it from is already closed so i can not go there today.
I’ve pierced my ears a long time before (cca 17 years, and with a piercing gun, I know everything… I am now 23) but lately been feeling bad because on the one ear the hole is closer to the edge of the earlobe. For the last 2 months I haven’t been wearing earrings hoping they’d close. I don’t know if they did. I am struggling between piercing the same hole with the needle myself and wearing a smaller earrings or making a new one in the piercing studio, more centered.
However, I’m afraid it will look weird having them so close together because I know those holes will probably never close that much due to wearing earring constantly for 17 years. If you were me, what would you do? I appreciate any advice. :)
I honestly can’t go anymore without earrings, I loooove wearing them so dang much…
Dear Sahara, make sure you clean them every night by rubbing alcohol, or visit a doctor or piercer if they’re still infected. Usually you can redo your ears anytime if they’re not infected.
I had a friend pierce my ears (regrettably- she’d only pierced on herself before) and when they were misplaced, I didn’t say anything in fear of hurting her. About three weeks later, I took them out. My ears were slightly infected (from cheap earings). It’s been a few months, and I can still see where the earrings were. I want to get them professionally redone but mom won’t take me until they heal. How long will it be?
Hi Erin, if you know that you’d feel bad about their spot not being the same whenever you look at the mirror then you could do that. If they’re fresh it usually takes a week or two to heal.
